Happy Halloween

Halloween night was great, it drizzled a bit but everyone had lots of fun. I had a Cleopatra costume, my friend Ethan was a Zombie hunter. We went all over town and the decorations were so scary. Skye’s decorations were the scariest. He had a body hanging from a rope and a skeleton riding a sled through the air. There were also lots of really fun Halloween decorations. The costumes we saw were great too. There were cooks and lobsters, little red riding hood, Anna from Frozen, Wednesday from the Adams Family, and so many more. There was even a dog wearing a princess costume!! It got super rainy after Halloween was done – really happy it waited!  Enjoy this Wolverton Halloween slideshow!

Fabulous Jack-o-lanterns

Ian VanWeerdhuizen, a grade 9 student who lives at the farm past Charlie’s and right after the train tracks, has some great jack-o-lanterns that he is selling. He has big pumpkins, little pumpkins, long pumpkins, round pumpkins, smooth pumpkins and bumpy pumpkins. You name it you can find it at his place. His pumpkins are awesome. I’m excited to get his pumpkins for Hallowe’en. He is selling pumpkins, now that Charlie isn’t able to, and he’s using the money for his grade 10 class trip to Vimy Ridge in France for the 100th anniversary of the battle. The pumpkins will be at the end of the lane of their farm starting on the weekend of the 19th/20th of September.

Here is my interview with Ian: Continue reading September 18th, 2015

Downburst Strands Resident

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Do you remember that power outage on Thursday? That was caused by a downburst. A downburst is when a big bunch of air goes down to the ground and then spreads out in all directions. It’s almost like a sideways tornado and causes huge winds right where it happens. The environment Canada student we talked to at the site (Jason Leis) told us it affected two concessions.

Brand New Wolverines

Mike and Jenn

That’s right – there are new people in town and I met them. They are working on their house, and are very nice. They live in Cambridge for now but they will be moving into the Stewart’s old house soon. Their names are Jennifer Bowman and Micheal McLay. They are working on the stones in the basement because they are broken and also painting inside the house.

Wolverton Traffic Jam

There were lots of people at the Weber’s house on Wednesday, July 29th. There were cars parked on both sides of the road! There were TV people there doing historical reenactments at Wolverton Hall. The Webers weren’t allowed to be in their house until it was done. It was done by midnight. It was hard to drive between the cars – the space was very thin which made a traffic jam. For any more information on the show being filmed – you’ll have to talk to Rose and Dave….

Newest Wolverine

Leela with her new baby brother
Leela with her new baby brother

Julie and Jackson Stone had a baby . Wolverton has a new resident. Let’s give him three cheers! Edison Carter Stone was born June 12th at 12.45 am. He was 9 lbs 1 oz and 22 inches long. He can’t fit into newborn sleepers, and three month ones are too short too – wow – that’s a big baby. He’s not at home yet, but he will be soon – June 22nd. He got an infection at birth, but don’t worry, he’ll be okay because they caught it right away. When Leela held Edison she was very happy and she said “no, no, NO” when a nurse came to take his temperature. Leela’s granny is at the Stone’s house taking care of her until the family can be back together again.

The Baby Goose

Konky is a gosling. Konky was found when Sam and Flynn Aikens were playing in their backyard. Konky came out of nowhere and started following them. The Aikens took him in. They kept him in a large pet carrier which they had outside during the day and inside at night. They fed him chick starter and water. When they first gave him water to drink, Konky jumped right into the water. He liked Steve the best.
