The Baby Goose

Konky is a gosling. Konky was found when Sam and Flynn Aikens were playing in their backyard. Konky came out of nowhere and started following them. The Aikens took him in. They kept him in a large pet carrier which they had outside during the day and inside at night. They fed him chick starter and water. When they first gave him water to drink, Konky jumped right into the water. He liked Steve the best.

There is a Painter in Wolverton

I went and met Ian Saxby. He is Gail and John Ashby’s son-in-law. He and his wife are staying over the winter and planning on moving to Nova Scotia in a few weeks. He is from Australia and also lived in Toronto, some of his paintings are from that. He has done a few paintings of Wolverton while he was here. The painting that is shown here is one of his paintings from their driveway. I like how there are swirls in the sky.

Local Hero

Annie Dale is saving people’s lives by donating blood. On March 5th she became a first time donor. Annie said it did not hurt when they stuck the needle in her arm. When asked how it felt to be saving lives Annie said it “feels really good”. She felt a little sick after, maybe that will teach her to not eat lunch before going next time. Annie – you are a life saver!

Big Snowstorm

On groundhog day all the kids got to stay home from school because buses were cancelled because of a big snowstorm. Daryll did a great job plowing the roads, and told us that Wolverton Wally says that spring is coming soon this year. (For a close-up of Daryll – see the breaking news story from last week)

There’s a Groundhog

Yes, Wolverton has its own groundhog to tell if spring is just around the corner.  Daryl (picture below) has talked to Wolverton Wally and he says that it’s going to be an early spring this year.  Now our groundhog lives by the river, but it is hard to see him because he is black and white so he blends in with the snow.  Daryl says that Wolverton Wally looks like a Dalmation – white with black spots.
